Climate Resilience Sector Project

Climate Resilience Sector Project (CRSP) was prepared under phase II of the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR) to mainstream climate resilience into government planning and address country priorities focusing on the most vulnerable sectors and communities.
The purpose of the Project is to implement the Strategic Program for Climate Resilience (SPCR) prepared under phase II of the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR). The Project will mainstream climate resilience into development planning and address country priorities focusing on the most vulnerable sectors and communities.

The Project will:

  1. Build capacity in climate change adaptation and disaster risk management at community, sector and national levels.
  2. Provide information, tools, and legislative frameworks needed to introduce climate change considerations into government and sector planning and budgeting processes.
  3. Provide access to resource (technical, human, financial) to address the climate change risk priorities of the Government, as well as those vulnerable communities through a combination of soft and hard measures.

Objectives of portal:

  • Improving capacities to monitor and manage Tonga Climate data and information.
  • Establish and maintain a Project website which will be regularly updated to include information on general matters including:

    • Bidding procedures, bidders and contract awards for works, goods and services
    • Utilization and disbursement of funds under the Project Imprest Account
    • Physical progress of the works and procurement of goods
    • Audited Project financial accounts, Project review reports, quarterly progress reports, annual reports, and completion report. The web page should also include information related to Climate Change Trust Fund (CCTF) to be established under the project including:
      • The CCTF operating procedures and operation manual
      • Utilization of funds
      • Current available funds
      • Physical progress of the small scale community initiatives financed under the CCTF
      • CCTF audited accounts and other financial statements, annual reports, technical audits of the small scale community initiative financed under the CCTF, and various reports by multilateral and bi-lateral development partners that have contributed to the CCTF.
