Capacity Building on Good Servicing Practices for Lower Global Warming Potential and Flammable Refrigerants

27/05/2021, The National Ozone Unit (NOU) from the Department of Climate Change, in cooperation with the United Nations Environment Programme organized a series of Virtual Trainings for Tongatapu RAC (Refrigeration and Air Condition) technicians. The Virtual Training was conducted by Mr. Michael Moller, a master trainer from Australia.
The major objective of the virtual training was to continue the capacity building of key national actors in the RAC sector and updating them on development trends in alternative refrigerants and technologies. Both theoretical and practical demonstrations were provided during the training to deepen technical knowledge on proper servicing practices for equipment relying on lower – GWP refrigerants.
As a result of this training, RAC technicians from the Solomon Islands were being able to share their skills and experiences as well as discussing their ideas with Tongatapu technicians on good practices for handling flammable refrigerants, installation of room air conditions and maintenance of small commercial refrigerators and freezers
The virtual training was conducted on the 19th,20th,26th and 27th of May,2021 at the Ministry of MEIDECC’s office and attended by RAC technicians from various organizations.
