Tonga Reaffirms Support for the Pacific Resilience Facility at COP30 in Belém, Brazil
Belém, Brazil — 11 November 2025
Tonga has reaffirmed its strong support for the Pacific Resilience Facility (PRF) during the Pacific Resilience Facility Partners Roundtable Talanoa held at the Moana Blue Pacific Pavilion on the margins of COP30 in Belém, Brazil. The event, convened under the theme “Iumi Tugeda: Act Now for an Integrated Blue Pacific Continent,” gathered Pacific Island leaders, partners, and stakeholders to advance collective action for climate resilience and sustainable development across the region.

The attendance of Tonga’s delegation at the roundtable reflects the Kingdom’s deep commitment to the vision and objectives of the PRF. As the first Pacific island nation to ratify the PRF Treaty and the host of the PRF Secretariat, Tonga continues to play a pivotal role in supporting this Pacific-led initiative to strengthen locally driven climate resilience.

The PRF stands as a landmark achievement for the region, designed to mobilize sustainable and accessible financing to protect communities from the escalating impacts of climate change. It represents the Pacific’s unified approach to building a resilient future through regional solidarity, innovative financing, and shared responsibility.
Tonga also acknowledges with pride that the PRF’s inception coincided with the Kingdom’s chairmanship of the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF), marking a defining milestone in the collective efforts of Pacific nations to address the climate crisis through homegrown solutions.

Through its enduring commitment to the PRF, Tonga underscores its solidarity with the broader Pacific family and its determination to ensure that resilience remains at the heart of the region’s climate and development agenda.
