TCRP Lidar Survey Announcement
Nuku’alofa, Tonga – 24th March 2026. The Department of Climate Change under the Ministry of Energy, Information, Disaster Management, Environment, Communication, and Climate Change (MEIDECC) wishes to inform the public that a coastal mapping survey will be carried out using an airplane over Tongatapu and Ha’apai from the 26th of March to the 21st of April, 2026. The survey will help measure land elevation and map Tonga’s coastline to support disaster preparedness and community safety. During this time, you may see an aircraft or equipment in your area.
