    The Department of Climate Change National Awareness Program in ‘Eua focused on delivering awareness activities at selected local communities and schools from 29th to 30th of July 2019.

    Staff from the Department of Climate Change visited two high schools and four primary schools which includes ‘Eua High School, Hofangahau College, and ‘Eua Middle School of the Latter Day Saints, GPS ‘Angaha, GPS Tufuvai, GPS‘ Ohonua, GPS Ha’atu ’a and chosen communities including ‘Ohonua, Houma, Petani and Mu’a.

    The Green Climate Fund Tonga Readiness & Preparatory Support Programme (GCF-PRPS) under the Department of Climate Change, MEIDECC conducted a consultation meeting with local district and town officers of Ha’apai as part of the National Climate Change Awareness Week on the 25th July 2019 at Maamafo’ou Hall.

    A consultation in Ha’apai was conducted on the 24th July 2019 at the Maamafo’ou Hall, Pangai by the Green Climate Fund Tonga Readiness & Preparatory Support Programme (GCF-RPSP) under the Department of Climate Change, MEIDECC as part of the National Climate Change Awareness Week.

    The second day of the Department of Climate Change National Awareness Program in Ha’apai focused on delivering awareness activities at local schools.

    Officers from the Department of Climate Change from Tongatapu together with staff at MEIDECC Ha’apai visited three high schools and four primary schools including Taufa’ahau-Pilolevu College, Ha’apai High School, Tailulu College, GPS Pangai, GPS Koulo, and GPS Fotua and GPS Faleloa. Howeever, the St, Joseph College will conduct their tree planting activity on Wednesday 24th July.

    The Department of Climate Change under the Ministry of Meteorology, Energy, Information, Disaster Risk Management, Environment, Climate Change and Communication (MEIDECC) continued with its national awareness activities at Ha’apai. The mission is to “Increase Climate Action to Save Tonga”.

    A team of nine officers from the Department of Climate Change in Nuku’alofa is in Ha’apai to conduct the awareness activities, in partnership with staff at MEIDECC Ha’apai, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry (MAFF), as well as the town and district officers.

    19th July, 2019 Team from the Department of Climate Change in Tongatapu together with staff from other MEIDECC Departments in Tongatapu joined the MEIDECC Vava’u stall at the Royal Agricultural Show on Friday 19th July 2019, at the Niponi Field in Neiafu.

    A short prize giving ceremony was conducted at the MEIDECC’s stall, to award the prize for the winner of the art competition, which was one of the activities during the National Climate Change Awareness Week.

    The Green Climate Fund Tonga Readiness & Preparatory Support Programme (GCF-PRPS) under the Department of Climate Change, MEIDECC conducted a one-day meeting in Vava’u as part of the National Climate Change Awareness Week on the 18th July 2019 at Fakamelino Hall, Neiafu.

    The second day of the Department of Climate Change’s National Awareness week focused on awareness programs for schools.

    Two teams consisting of staffs from the Department of Climate Change in Tongatapu and MEIDECC Office in Vava’u visited five schools in Vava’u including Chanel College, Vava’u Side School, Saineha High School, Tailulu College and Vava’u High School.

    Today, the Department of Climate Change under the Ministry of Meteorology, Energy, Information, Disaster Risk Management, Environment, Climate Change and Communication (MEIDECC) began its national awareness activities, on the theme “Increase Climate Action to Save Tonga!” at Vava’u.
