The Ministry of Meteorology, Energy, Information, Disaster Management, Environment, Climate Change and Communications (MEIDECC) has successfully established theHihifo Coastal Committee under the EU funded GIZ ACSE Project on Friday last week during a stakeholders meeting with representatives from the six coastal communities of Fo’ui, Ha’avakatolo, Kolovai, ‘Ahau, Kanokupolu and Ha’atafuheld at the Climate Change Department’s Conference Room.

This event was in partnership with The Deep-Ocean Stewardship Initiative (DOSI), the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO (IOC-UNESCO) and IUCN.

‘The initiative is part of the project’s community education and awareness component for primary schools in the western district of Tongatapu’, said the project’s Education Officer, Mrs. Fololita Sienisia Sila.

27th April, 2017 The Pacific Community (SPC) opened the first Pacific Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency office in Nuku’alofa, Tonga yesterday.

The Pacific Community (SPC), in partnership with the Government of Tonga is hosting the two-day officials meeting, preceding the Ministerial meeting to open on Wednesday this week.
21st April 2017 More than 20 participants from line ministries, NGOs, private sectors and members of the Joint National Action Plan (JNAP) Taskforce gathered at the FWC Moulton Hall to develop a framework of JNAP II this morning.
JNAP was established to improve good governance for the effective management, coordination, implementation and financing of climate change adaptation and disaster risk initiatives in Tonga.
