GREEN CLIMATE FUND Readiness Projects Progress and Annual Plans
Representatives from various sectors, including Line Ministries, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and the Private Sector, convened for the first meeting of the year to discuss the progress of Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness projects. The meeting provided a platform to review annual plans and assess the current status of ongoing projects across different sectors.
The discussion focused on project implementation, challenges faced, and key milestones achieved. Participants shared insights on how their respective projects are advancing toward strengthening Tonga’s climate resilience. The meeting also allowed stakeholders to identify areas requiring further support and coordination to ensure the successful execution of GCF-funded initiatives.
A key highlight of the meeting was the emphasis on collaboration and knowledge-sharing among project teams. Representatives from Line Ministries presented updates on sector-specific projects, while NGOs and Private Sector representatives contributed perspectives on community engagement and sustainable business practices aligned with climate resilience.
The GCF Readiness program plays a crucial role in building institutional capacity, supporting policy development, and enhancing access to climate finance. This multi-sectoral approach ensures that climate adaptation and mitigation efforts are inclusive and responsive to the country’s needs.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to strengthening partnerships and improving project delivery to maximize the impact of GCF-funded initiatives. Regular follow-ups and continued collaboration will be essential in driving progress toward a more climate-resilient Tonga.
